Obama's similarity to Cheney's ventriloquist dummy Bush shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Face it America: Conservatives are all that you are allowed to vote for because conservatives are all that the wealthy ruling elite that actually makes the decisions in this country will back. Nobody who could remotely change America into something approaching a respectable country will get anything from the elite besides derision and ridicule.

See, here's how it works: The high-rollers who have more money than they can spend in several lifetimes don't start wringing their hands and getting ulcers every four years out of fear that the public might finally elect someone who will derail their gravy train. They don't get their luggage all packed to move to the Bahamas or the Caymans every election cycle. Know why? Because they don't have to. It's far easier for them to fund all the major candidates from BOTH hardly-dissimilar political parties and let them fight it out. May the best man or woman win! Because they know that no matter who wins it will be guaranteed to be someone that won't give them heartburn. Rigging elections is so third-world. The richest country on the planet doesn't need to. Its bourgeoisie simply buys all the plastic marionette candidates that could have a shot at winning and thus controls all the choices available.

They have the best of both worlds: All the control and continuity of policy and predictability one could expect from an obvious dictatorship but with the thin veneer of respectability because the big money a-holes deign to let their subjects CHOOSE who will be the next puppet of the oligarchs, nevermind that it doesn't matter a hill of beans who they choose since nothing will change anyway. And most of the American public is so damn simpleminded and cowed and easily led and downright gullible that they fall for it! Every. Single. Time.

Just so we're clear, criticism of Obama is welcome in my eyes as long as it's constructive and I believe yours measures up. I just disagree to an extent.

I think we need to a little more wait and see.

Bill--

Context is important. But substance carries more weight.

Why are those who dare to criticize Obama's policies chastised by the "liberal left" for daring to say something bad about their Dear Leader?

Moreover, none of the criticism I (or others who have dared to objectively analyze Obama's "new" policy) had anything to do with "who" our leader was, so that argument about Hitler, FDR, and Churchill is off-topic.

So the question remains - why are age-old, failed policies that the liberal left criticized Bush for being hailed as the second-coming when uttered by Obama?
