hello wil. sorry just found your comment about lake victoria. just in case you never went back to see if i had answered...i said:
if you can deal with grizzlies you can deal with almost anything here.if you are in a tent and zipped up, you're fine. sutpid wild things eh? a thin rippable canvas is all it takes. if you are in a national park. if you are outside...well, its the people you've got to watch out for...and that;s something else entirely. watch out for crocs and hippos too...hazardous...but as i said. everything pales into insignificance when it comes to grizzlies....waaah. x j

Thanks for the kind words, Wil. I don't know if you saw this, but it is a brief description of what kept me out of the loop.

Elyas--

I think the prices are comparable - pomegranates might even be a little higher - I can't remember what I read, but figures were really all over the place.

No doubt it can help...but will it while we are still bombing villages?

It seems to me that the airstrikes in Iraq pretty much stopped when the surge started - it could be critical part of why Iraq is looking better.

You just can't fight an insurgency - no matter what - when you're dropping bombs. Period.

Wil Robinson has an interesting report on a new effort to convince Afghan farmers to switch from growing opium poppies to pomegranates to export to world markets. The man spearheading the effort thinks that, not only does Afghanistan produce “bes...
